Position Overview

Mane Street Georgetown is seeking an experienced, motivated Hair Stylist to join our team.

We are looking for someone who already knows their craft, has an established book of clientele, and wants to continue growing within a luxury salon environment that values exceptional work, professionalism, education, and collaboration.

This is not a role for someone looking simply for a chair to work from. We are looking for a stylist who wants to be part of a team, continue improving their craft, build a career they are proud of, and contribute to the standards and culture of the salon around them.

At Mane Street, we believe that being an exceptional stylist extends beyond technical ability. It is how you consult with your guests, how you communicate, how you present yourself, how you work alongside your team, and how committed you are to continuing to become better at what you do.

Schedule & Availability

This position requires a minimum commitment of 30 hours per week, with the opportunity to work up to approximately 50 hours per week depending on the stylist's schedule, clientele, demand, and ability to remain booked.

We are looking for someone who wants to be behind the chair and understands that building a successful career requires consistency and availability.

Stylists are expected to arrive prepared for their scheduled day, manage their timing appropriately, and maintain a schedule that supports both their existing clientele and continued growth at Mane Street.

Established Clientele & Building Your Book

We are specifically seeking a stylist who comes to Mane Street with an existing book of clientele and experience independently managing guest relationships.

Mane Street will support our stylists through the salon's reputation, marketing efforts, guest inquiries, referrals, and opportunities for new business. However, every stylist is ultimately responsible for maintaining and continuing to build their own book.

We want someone who takes ownership of their career—someone who understands the importance of guest retention, rebooking, referrals, excellent consultations, continued education, and consistently delivering work that makes guests want to return.

Technical Experience

Our preference is for a well-rounded stylist who is confident providing a full range of salon services rather than specializing exclusively in one area.

The ideal candidate is experienced and comfortable with:

• Hair color, including dimensional and lived-in color
• Highlights and blonding services
• Color formulation and application
• Haircuts
• Blowouts and finishing
• Smoothing treatments
• Treatments and hair-health services
• Thorough consultations and service planning

A strong understanding of hair health is essential. Our stylists should be able to balance a guest's desired result with what is realistically achievable while protecting the integrity and condition of their hair.

Davines Color & Product Commitment

Mane Street Georgetown is a Davines concept salon, and all stylists must be willing to work with and become knowledgeable in our professional color and retail product lines.

Prior Davines experience is welcome but is not required. What is required is a willingness to learn the line, understand the products, participate in education, and confidently use and recommend them as part of the guest experience.

Product recommendations should come from expertise and genuine understanding of the guest's hair—not from pressure to make a sale. We expect our stylists to educate their guests and recommend appropriate home care that protects their investment and supports the health and longevity of their hair.

Consultations & Guest Experience

Every service begins with a thoughtful consultation.

Our stylists are expected to take the time to understand each guest's goals, hair history, lifestyle, maintenance expectations, and current hair health before beginning a service.

Strong communication is an essential part of this position. Stylists should be comfortable discussing realistic expectations, maintenance, timing, pricing, and when a desired result may require multiple appointments rather than compromising the integrity of the hair.

We expect our guests to feel heard, cared for, and confident in the professional guiding them.

Professional Standards

Mane Street is a luxury salon, and our team is expected to represent that standard.

Our stylists should arrive each day looking polished, elevated, professional, and prepared. We encourage individuality and personal style, but expect every team member's presentation to complement the environment and level of service we provide.

Professionalism also extends to how you communicate, how you maintain your station, how you interact with guests and coworkers, how you manage your time, and how you respond to feedback.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in both their craft and how they represent themselves professionally.

Education & Growth

Knowing your craft does not mean being finished learning it.

• Active cosmetology license and ability to legally perform services in Washington, DC
• Established clientele/book of business
• Professional experience working behind the chair

• Confidence performing haircuts, blowouts, styling, and smoothing treatments
